Okay, time for some back info. I was digging through my closet the other day when I found my school supplies from last year. Hidden among them was the one fanfic I have ever written. I wrote this after I beat Star Fox Adventures. I made up this story of how Scales came into power. Unfortunately, I ran out of ideas after uh, chapter one, so this is all I have. Anyway, I decided that you guys and gals here at the forum might enjoy it. Hope you like it! Comments and criticism are welcome.
Power: A Star Fox Adventures prequel
Chapter One (The only one )
It was already shaping up to be a miserable day. It was the time of year just after the gray, bleak winter and well before anything was green, where the trees stood naked amidst an ocean of brown grass and mud.
Scales noticed this and regreted setting up such a hasty camp for his army, if it could be called a camp. A few dozen tents scattered about the opening, and a barely smoldering fire in the center, but that was all. Scales' temper began to rise.
"Hurry up!" he snarled to the poor smith who was hammering Scales' steel claw back into place.
Tink.
Tink.
Tink.
Somehow, the hammering sound relaxed Scales a bit. At least, until he heard the low murmur of voices from outside the tent. He wasn't able to catch any of the conversation exept "Scales is weak."
"Scales is weak."
The General's blood began to boil, but he was able to restrain himself.
"Finished, sir." the smith said timidly. Scales silently rose to his feet and lumbered to the entrance of the tent. He stood silently for a moment, then swiftly threw open the flap and took two large steps outside.
Two of the three Sharpclaw soldiers standing there were treated to the sight of an absolutely furious General Scales towering above them. Those two bolted in the opposite direction, leaving the third, whose back was to the blacksmith tent, completely baffled. Until he turned around. He tried to make a desperate attempt to run, but like all who crossed the General in a bad mood, he didn't get far.
Scales quickly caught the unfortunate dinosaur by the shoulder, spun him around, grabbed him by the neck, slammed him against a huge tree, and pressed his steel claw against the soldier's throat, all within a matter of seconds.
"WHAT WAS THAT LAST COMMENT?!" Scales bellowed.
The soldier struggled to escape his grip, but this only tightened it. Blood began to trickle from a pinpoint of the claw. Panic and fear began to well up in the soldier's eyes.
"TELL ME!"
By now, the racket had attracted the attention of the entire camp and it encircled the scene unfolding. The pathetic struggling soldier made a desperate plea for help from the crowd. None dared to assist him. Scales heard the crowd gathering and began to shout louder.
"TELL ME NOW OR DIE!"
The pitiful soldier began to blubber, "B-bu... bu..."
"TELL ME!" Scales practically screamed.
"I... I says..."
"FASTER!"
"Sc...Scales... i-is... weak. No hurt me, please!"
Scales' arm twitched.
The soldier began to thrash wildly as the blood flowed freely from his neck. He attempted to scream, but only gurgling noises came from his mouth. As did blood.
Scales' arm twitched again.
The soldier stopped moving. Scales removed his claw and the soldier fell to the ground in a heap, like a discarded puppet. Blood continued to ooze from his wounds.
Scales calmly wiped the blood from his metal claw as he turned to address the crowd. "I am assuming that this is an example of the low morale that you might have? That I am a weak leader?" He questioned the crowd. "If you still think I am weak, I can arrange it so that you can ask him face to face." He said pointing to the corpse.
"Now, as for our plans. We still attack the Earth Walker castle at dawn. Nothing has changed. Dismissed!" He strode forward, parting the crowd as he went.
Before he entered his tent, he turned to the army one last time. "If any of you still have complaints, you damned well know where to find me." And with that, Scales retired to his tent to draw up invasion plans.
A nasty, cold rain began to fall as soon as the General left view. All of the soldiers scrambled to keep thier weapons and firewood dry. However, none of them were able to keep their eyes from wandering to the body of the disrespectful soldier, where the rain now mixed his blood with the mud.
End Chapter One.
