Since I noticed this gaming rant board I decided to make a post. Final Fantasy 11 is down for mantance so my life on Vana'deil is down ^_^. I play a Mithra Paladin (Female) and its a good game. I am one of 10 on the server with over 3000+ people on the server. I am rather unique. The game is good. Any questions give a holler. Its fun!

God everquest, what a waste of money, I bought it a few months ago cost me a hundred bucks, I felt forced to play, even though the game "sucked", since I payed for it. I played two weeks and deleted it. I hate everquest

I don't really like the pay to play type of games, even though I really wanted to buy FFXI, I recently bought FF Origins (1 & 2 , remade on PSX), good ol' classics gotta love em.

EQ wasn't the bad when it first started. Then they nerfed it, just like they nerf all online RPG's. Did the same thing to UO. The same fate will come to FF, just wait. I just haven't left EQ because I know alot of people on there and it's kinda stupid just to drop them all. The game's got issues, but it's still got some fun aspects. I just hate Sony's way of keeping the game alive. Sure adding new things is great, charging $30 everytime you come out with something new is freaking retarded.

I think mainly charging money for the play AND the game is just plain stupid. I mean, c'mon, one or the other!
OK, not that I'd P2P anyway, but oh well...

I like the ideal of online play, but I will most likely stick with their regular offline rpgs.

With RPG's you have to p2p because the servers require constant updates, patches, maintenence and just overall attention. I mean take an FPS. You buy it, and you play it online. The only thing that changes is the maps. You have a set number of weapons, set number of everything really. And the game engine is much simpler. You have the original team patch bugs, and that's about it. Any expansions are normally player made.
Now with RPG's you've got, who knows how many damned creatures, tons of different classes, and different races, with their own armor/weapon combinations. Then you factor in spells, killing things, what those things drop, where they spawn, how fast do they run if blah blah blah. I can go on forever. I mean you cheat in an FPS and no one asides the players really give a crap so it just goes on and on and on. With RPG's people get reeeally pissed and the makers of the game come along and ban people and delete accounts and a whole bunch of other happy stuff.
While P2P sucks, it's required. What's NOT required is paying the equivalent of what you paid for the original game for each expansion. That's just them digging money out of your pockets. Oh, you can also tell when they're digging money out of your pockets when the price per month suddenly goes up. Oh yeah, we uh...got more....game masters...and technicians...and stuff.....*whistle* riiiiiiiight. You get the point.

If you want to play an online RPG for free you could play Diablo or Neverwinter Nights. They have free servers that you can get on, you just have to like the games.
