Hey. I'm new here. I love the comic. The artwork = Amazing. I'm not the best at drawing, but I still love to do it. I have a few questions about art and comics n such. I have the basics... the art equipment, and scanner/ copier, Photoshop 7.0, etc. Pretty much anyone can probably answer my questions.
1. What do you do to get the art so easily colored in Photoshop?
2. What kind of image do you make the scanned picture?
I'll send in a pic in a little bit, I just need to figure out this Photoshop stuff... I'm new to it. -_-
Thanks

1. It's not something that can just be told, rather it's a skill you develop. Expirement and look at tutorials on the web. Personally, I don't like using a computer to color in my drawings, mainly because I'm a little slow at it. If you have too much trouble with Photoshop, try using traditional methods to color in your art. However, CG (computer colored/drawn) ceirtianly has its advantages. Do whatever you want.
2. It doesn't really matter, though I suggest JPEG or PNG. If you REALLY need to keep the filesize down, save it as JPEG, and open it in photoshop. Then, on the file menu, click on save for web. You can fiddle around with the settings, but I suggest GIF as a filetype. Don't use this unless its nessesary, because it reduces the quality.
Good luck with your drawing ;D

Easily colored in Photoshop. Well there's your problem. There is no easy lol. If you want the work to come out good, you're going to have to put some work into it. Now there are things that make it easIER. I find working in layers does wonders. Especially when backgrounds are involved. If you have the room on your computer, scan the image as a TIF. The file size is huge, but it gives the best image quality overall. When you're done, it really depends on what you want the image for. For web-based applications, save it as a gif or a jpeg. For quality, again you can stick with a TIF, but the file remains huge, especially if you save it with layers. (I've got a 10MB TIF file somewhere) Another helpful idea when using PS is to zoom in quite alot on your picture. Granted it makes your work go a bit slow. I use it for inking purpose when CG'ing. Once you've got it inked, create a seperate layer beneath the inking and color on that one. Doing this allows you to not worry about coloring over edges and things of that sort. If you fade the brush you can get a soft shaded effect. Really there's so much to learn it's insane. The best teacher is hands on use.

Your definately right, nothing can be very easily done with Photoshop... -_- Oh well, looks like I something to try and master... my drawings are getting very slowly better, but better... I don't wanna post my art until I'm much better, cause those other pictures on the message board are über cool looking. >_< Photoshop and I are going to become REALLY good friends fast. Adios. ;D

Hey, don't be shy about posting your art. Even if you think it's bad, you should show it to others. I felt like the peeps here would think that my art was undeveloped. (beginner's junk) But, as it turned out to be, another artist, who I think draws better than me, thinks that I draw beeter than him! Any and all art is appriciated here, and you don't have to worry about people here saying that your art sucks. Just post what you have, and we can better help you to improve. (Well, at least I will help.) All you truly need is simple confidence in your abilities.
So, please post what you have, you've got me interested.... ;D

Hmm, maybe I should too. I'll hook up my scanner for a bit on the weekend. BUt I should warn you, it DOES suck. (Even I admit it) But I'll improve eventually.

Thanks MentalFreak9, I'll post my art over the weekend. I'll start a picture now. I'm 15, but my art definately looks like its done by a 7 year old, but anyways, I'll still post. (After I post it I might have to change my message board name because its so pathetic. -_- Hey Gobleteer, I bet my picture is at least 10x worse than yours. ^_^

Well, you could try darwing a person you see at school as a furry. Or you could try drawing something realted to what you're learning in history, thats always good.
